Hayley graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, in Worcester, Massachusetts, with a masters in materials science where she did significant studies with titanium especially the characterization of early-stage fatigue crack growth of 3D manufactured titanium. The results that Hayley produced using 3D x-ray tomography were combined and compared with titanium manufactured in the more tradition fashion. Hayley currently works in the metallurgy group at General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, Connecticut, as a materials engineer. Electric Boat has designed and built submarines for the US Navy for over 100 years. Hayley was interviewed by Heat Treat Today on the very first Heat Treat Radio Metallurgical Posterchild episode.
