Shaymus Hudson is a technical instructor and lab manager in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He also runs the Material Sciences’ Laboratory for Physical Metallurgy. He’s involved with sample preparation, microscopy, mechanical testing, heat treatments, as well as teaching undergraduate laboratory courses, as well as MIT’s foundry and forge. Shaymus, Irish for “James,” was educated at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) where he shot lasers into molten metals to test for impurities. Shaymus is featured in a Heat Treat Radio interview.
