Emergencies happen, and lucky for Plibrico Company’s heat treat customers, Project Manager Brandon Sheldon is skilled in making “game-time” decisions. Tackling problems head-on, Brandon uses his strong field experience, refractory certifications, and a bit of intuition to get the issue solved before the time-clock runs out. Brandon started his rookie season with the Plibrico Company as a refractory brick-layer and gained invaluable first-hand field experience as he crawled inside furnaces, scaled stacks, and navigated ducts. Today he uses that experience to solve serious refractory issues, such as immediate action he took to address and correct a problem he spotted during a scheduled outage for a very large heat treat customer. His discovery of this wide-spread problem has prompted him to help educate the industry about uptake maintenance within the walking beam furnaces, as well as on the best solution and correct inspection procedures to ensure optimal results. Brandon’s keen eye and the preventative measures have reduced safety risk, improved equipment efficiencies, and decreased the chance of an emergency shutdown that could cost our customers millions of dollars per day. These types of “game-time” solutions and their positive results continue to build trust with our customers and has led to long-lasting relationships.
