Spencer has been working with ECM USA, Inc. since 2017 when the company expanded their operations to include a fully functioning metallurgical testing facility, the Synergy Center. Spencer was instrumental in catapulting the Synergy Center to its current role in helping define the wants and needs of ECM’s customers. Spencer began his passion in school where he studied Material Sciences with a focus on metallurgy. During his brief time with ECM USA, Spencer has utilized his knowledge while working on transmission development programs for major automotive companies, closely following testing and recipe development as well as load design and testing parameters. He also developed distortion studies to determine optimal part placement and fixture design to maximize the effectiveness of gas quenching. He has excelled in bringing new skills to our in-house development lab such as 3D modeling and CFD analysis of parts in the furnace, to reduce the need for physical testing. Spencer has worked closely with major players in the heat treating industry and has helped to solidify that ECM's in-house technologies are necessary in the research and development phase of the study of metals and distortion. His career is just beginning and his colleagues are confident that he will continue to expand his expertise in the field.
