Shannon Driscol – Heat Treat Today 40 Under 40
With Shannon Driscol, heat treating is in his blood. Starting in the industry at age 17, Shannon has worked every operational position that exists at a normal heat treater. This breadth of exposure over the last 12 years has made Shannon an operational expert in regard to efficiencies, equipment maintenance, and management.
Shannon’s operational accomplishments include onboarding and the restructuring of the new steel division in Santa Fe Springs, Calif. in 2016, and receiving a successful accreditation for NADCAP and AS9100 within two years of acquiring this facility. Additionally, Shannon has coordinated and implemented multiple Kaizen events for efficiency improvements in vacuum furnace production. Additionally, he implemented both a dynamic, unscheduled downtime tracking system (reducing unscheduled downtime by 68 percent in less than a year) and an operator accuracy metric program (reducing rework, and thus motivating the team to excellence).
Shannon is a graduate of MTI’s YES Program and has been involved in the California State University Fullerton Family Business Center as a second-generation family member. A husband and father of an 18-month-old boy, he is proud to contribute to the industry and our country as an essential team member.
