Dan Hill- Heat Treat Today 40 Under 40
Since joining AFC-Holcroft in 2018, Dan Hill has immersed himself into the business and industry, quickly becoming a trusted leader within the organization and a resource to customers. Before coming to AFC-Holcroft, Dan worked as a proposal engineer, manager of engineering, and a director of engineering at Detroit Stoker Company, as well as working as the engineering manager for Fives Cinetic Corp. Given Dan’s broad engineering background, he has flourished while collaborating with customers to develop innovative, fully automated and fully customized heat treating equipment to suit specific needs.
Dan came to AFC-Holcroft with thirteen years of international capital equipment experience ranging from material handling, to controls systems, boilers and furnaces, combustion systems, and industrial washing/deburring equipment. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the University of Michigan. Dan, a licensed PE, is thankful that he began his career in earnest by learning through many hands-on engineering, construction, and service assignments before spending nine years in various management roles responsible for project engineering, quality, and R&D efforts.
Today, in addition to his sales responsibilities, Dan also maintains corporate initiatives focusing on continuous improvement and new product development. He serves on both the ABMA associate council and the AGMA Metallurgy and Materials technical committee and is looking forward to attending MTI’s 2022 YES Management Leadership Program. Moreover, he has been active in writing for various publications, including recent Heat Treat Today articles discussing furnace diagnostics and IQ furnace developments. Dan’s energy and passion show as he truly enjoys his work and has fun along the way.
Currently, he is a certified Manager of Quality and Organized Excellence from ASQ-World Headquarters and was a member of the Mechanical Design Technology Advisory Committee at Monroe County Community College, as well as a member of the National Fire Protection Agency Technical Committee. Dan has been encouraged to take on additional roles in continuous improvement, new product development, and industry groups. Dan’s contributions and excellent reputation will continue to grow!
