Justin Bell – Heat Treat Today 40 Under 40
For Justin Bell, heat treating is in the family bloodline. A third-generation heat treater, Justin has cousins, aunts, uncles, and siblings in the field. He has memories of his dad bringing parts home that needed racking when he was in junior high school. Heat treating is one of his passions, and he hopes to pass it on to his children one day.
Justin officially started heat treating in high school at a part-time job in S&R for Metals Technology Corporation. He progressed from inspection to lab tech to furnace operator to maintenance tech to foreman of gas nitriding to production manager before he moved to FPM Heat Treating as maintenance manager. Throughout his career, Justin helped to drive systems into the new age by implementing SSI control systems, surveying, and modifying furnaces as necessary to be capable of meeting CQI-9 and AMS specifications, and helping the company to obtain ISO 9001 status.
Justin is a tremendous addition to the FPM family. He never leaves anything for the next day and is a great problem solver with an extremely great work ethic. He leads a great group of maintenance personnel and has created an even better culture of watching out for one another. Safety and accountability are evident in Justin and his leadership. He is always looking for ways to make himself, FPM, and the industry better.
