Marcus Ruggiero – Heat Treat Today 40 Under 40
Marcus has over 10 years of heavy manufacturing experience in the aerospace, power generation, Naval nuclear, oil and gas, and automotive industries working for General Motors, Precision Castparts Corporation, and Arconic. After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University, where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering and focused on business, he held numerous roles in Operations, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, and Engineering — all of which enabled him to develop a knowledge of the industry from the ground up.
In the fall of 2019, Marcus started his own company as a contract COO for multiple organizations in addition to consulting on different projects. At MGLR Consulting, Marcus leverages his leadership, knowledge base, and skills to help manufacturers, forges, foundries, machine shops, in-house heat treat operations, and commercial heat treaters to improve morale, efficiency, and financial performance. Marcus has had P&L responsibility for businesses ranging from $2.5M/year to $440M/year in annual sales. In making these businesses successful from both a top-line and bottom-line perspective, he has also been able to set multiple plant-level productivity records while satisfying or exceeding Safety and Quality metrics. Marcus excels at facilitating teamwork to drive efficiency and quality within all aspects of a company’s product value stream. The average result of his contribution has reduced cost of manufacturing by 43% and increased sales due to improved on-time delivery.
Marcus is a voting Nadcap member and is on AMEC committees, SAE Metals committees B, D, E, F, G, and AM., ASTM committees B10, E01, E11, and F42, and has an AS9100 Lead Auditor Certificate. He is also involved in task groups for Nadcap Heat Treat, MTL, and MMMA. A dynamic leader, Marcus’ contributions are shaping the industry from coast to coast.
