Ronnie Swinson – Heat Treat Today 40 Under 40

Name: Ronnie Swinson
Company: Super Systems Inc.
Position: Senior Project Engineer
Supplier to the Industry
Years in Industry: 16

Ronnie Swinson started working at Super Systems Inc. almost eight years ago and is a self-motivated controls engineer who does amazing work with in-house and commercial heat treat operations around North America. Before arriving at Super Systems, he received his master’s in Technology, Engineering, and Design Education from North Carolina State University and spent the first eight years of his career working at several companies with positions including design engineer, manufacturing engineer, senior product engineer, and plant engineer.

Knowledgeable and hardworking, Ronnie does an excellent job explaining the best utilization and benefits of his company’s products, and his service confirms his clients’ satisfaction with their purchases. Delivering top notch controls systems to plants all over the U.S., Ronnie has provided industrial automation, sophisticated controls, and heat treat expertise to companies like Timken, Caterpillar, SKF, JTEK, and Collins Aerospace, to name a few. Equally impressive is the list of commercial heat treaters that have benefitted from his expertise. Ronnie has turned 20-year-old heat treat equipment into state-of-the-art, feature-rich equipment that can run the most sophisticated heat treat processes. His greatest accomplishment was installing and implementing a fully automated, lights out furnace line control solution with his SSI team.

Ronnie has also been a mentor to new engineers at SSI, and as the industry struggles with experience and expertise, Ronnie continues to teach clients the "ins and outs" of how furnace equipment and atmospheres work to provide properly heat treated parts. Because Ronnie came from the in-house heat treat world, he not only knows how important heat treatment processes are, but he also understands why technology is so important in helping today's heat treaters with their equipment.
