Dr. Olga Rowan (Olly) is one of the most recognized women in heat treat today. Her doctoral thesis and ASM Handbook articles are used as references world-wide. As a PhD candidate at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and through her current position as a Senior Research & Development Engineer at CAT, Olly has made significant advancements to understanding the carburizing process. Beyond that, she has developed shop floor experimental routines to control heat treat processes and understand sources of measurement error. She is a frequent presenter at ASM HTS conferences and has served as session chair in multiple years. Her work at CAT is also reflected in numerous internal technical publications. Olly is an active industry volunteer: she helps to train the next generation of engineers through her work on the ASM International Education Committee and ASM Materials Camp. In 2015, Olly was the recipient of the ASM HTS-Surface Combustion Emerging Leader Award.
