Briefly:
Doug Shuler’s father worked in the heat treating industry, so Doug grew up “in the business” and found it to be more in his blood than he imaged. One semester away from finishing his pre-med degree, he shifted gears and left college to start a family heat treat company with his father. He has developed hands-on experience in every aspect of heat treating including shipping/receiving, production, maintenance, testing/inspection, quality, and management. In 2009, Doug began working with Performance Review Institute (PRI), initially as an instructor and course developer for the programs of eQuaLified and eQuaLearn and later as an auditor for the Nadcap program. In 2009 he became the owner of Pyro Consulting LLC. As a lead auditor for Nadcap, over the past 14 years he has conducted over 500 Nadcap special process and aerospace quality management system audits on behalf of the aerospace primes. He is also a lead auditor for MedAccred and TPG; an authenticated Aerospace Auditor through Probitas; and a contractor with Smithers registrar for ISO9001 and AS9100 auditing. He continues to focus on instruction, training and education for the heat treat industry, developing courses, authoring exams, and employing the P.I.E. method: “Procedures that Include all requirements, and Evidence to show compliance.” His hands-on heat treating expertise is in these industries: Aerospace and Defense, Automotive, Transportation and Power Generation, Medical Devices, Mining, and Tooling
