Sandra J. Midea (Sandy) is a metallurgical engineer whose experience has focused on heat treating for over 35 years. She is a registered Professional Engineer in Ohio with an MS in Mechanical Engineering and a BS in Metallurgical Engineering. As a metallurgist with the Midea Group from its founding in 1997 and a metallurgist/laboratory manager with Induction Tooling, Inc., since 2008, she is recognized by her colleagues for her knowledge of heat treatment, metallurgy, and metallography, as well as her skills in furnace and process troubleshooting, plant start-up, technical and market research, and new product development. She has also worked as Director of Technology for a large commercial heat treater and Heat Treatment program manager in the industrial gas industry, all after starting her career with a large military aircraft manufacturer and all giving her experience in commercial and captive heat treating operations and practice. Sandy’s expertise has been called on for consultation on projects or on-going support in the area of heat treatment processing and lab evaluations, and as an expert witness in multiple quench oil fire litigations.
