Briefly:
Dr. Harb Nayar’s long and distinguished career in the powdered metal has resulted in the development of major patented inventions and processes for the powdered metal, brazing, annealing, heat treat and electronic packaging industries, many of which were developed from1969 to 1999 while he worked as Director of Controlled Atmosphere Technologies at Airco (later BOC, now Linde). Some of these inventions are N2-H2 based atmospheres, the furnace atmosphere zoning concept, the double curtain box concept, the “wet” bubbler for reducing soot on parts, and Direct Particle Sintering – all of which are still widely in use in the global PM industry.
During a period of retirement from 1999 – 2011, Harb patented (#6,241,515) a device and method for treating combustibles obtained from a thermal processing apparatus. Based on this patented technology, Harb custom designed and sold many Lubricant/Binder Burner Technology (LBT) units for existing belt conveyor and pusher furnaces. Adoption of this technology is still proceeding well.
In 2012 Harb started TAT Technologies LLC, with the goal of holding educational classes for employees of the PM and similar industries, consulting on a wide range of thermal processing topics and selling LBT equipment. Today, TAT Technologies employs Kyle Pond (IT Marketing Manager) and Dakota Stormer (Process Development Engineer).
Very recently, Harb expanded his focus to debinding and sintering Metal Injection Molding (MIM) and Additive Manufacturing (AM) green parts, Powder Forging and Powder Annealing processes. Harb was issued another patent on March 10, 2020, (#10, 583,487) “Method of Producing Alloyed Metallic Products”. Harb expects business to develop soon with this patent.
